Emmanuel Guerra (b. 1998) is a queer Latinx artist who explores the complexity of the intersectional (re)emergence of their Midwest and Mexican identity. Through cultural iconography and shared kinship via experience(s), memory, and grief, Guerra’s work renegotiates the (dis)placement of ephemeral realities as they attempt to reinvent what has been once lost into new contexts. Guerra received their BFA in Printmaking from Ball State University and is currently a MFA candidate and a Advanced Opportunity Program (AOP) fellow at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
